The telecom giant Bharti Airtel, this
week, launched the ‘Emergency alert service’ for it’s users which
enables them to send an alert message (call or SMS) with the
subscriber’s location details to 10 different mobile numbers at the same
time in case of an emergency.
The service, which is being charged at
Rs.30 for 30 days would also enable the subscribers to send a “Safe SMS”
to the 10 predefined contacts with just a click in case of a natural
calamity/disaster, even if they don’t have the minimum balance in their
account.
Setting up the service is fairly simple
as the users just needs to dial 55100 and follow the instructions.
Alternatively, users can also SMS START <MobileNumber1>,
<MobileNumber2>, <MobileNumber3>..<MobileNumber10> and
send it to 55100 to acticate the service.
For sending an emergency alert,
subscriber can dial 55100 to send voice and SMS alerts to all the the
10 registered mobile numbers. The alert can also be sent via SMS by
sending HELP to 55100.
